(This is NOT us sledding! The difference would be... the absence of speed!)
Yesterday we headed out toward Bend Oregon and did our yearly sledding experience. Bend is a good two hours from where we live and it always has good snow. We usually try to find some sort of place we can pull over and sled with the pups. We got pictures, but they are on my phone.... so when I figure out how to get them off I'll post them!
It's always a fun experience. The dogs jump around in the snow and look like walking snow ball machines afterwards... with fist size balls hanging off their undersides! This year the snow was about 3 1/2 feet deep. Leo and I had a hard time walking in it. In fact we really didn't sled at all.... we call it "Sled Shoeing". If you can imagine two grown adults standing on two sleds like shoes, attempting to balance on snow with huge holes three feet deep, us yelling, right, left, right, left.... We had a lot of laughing. At one point I thought I would try to roll my body back to the car in the snow, and the dogs just attacked me. Snow in Oregon is a totally different ball game then that of the snow in Montana or Alaska. After a few snow ball fights, pushing each other into the snow, and digging of tunnels with the dogs, we headed home. (Along with a stop for some hot chocolate!)
We always look forward to this trip and miss snow SOOOO much!
