Yippie-ky-yie-yah

My friend Kelly and I planned a secret date for our husbands. We have spent the last couple months putting together a slew of notes and locations for them to have a "Cowboy" night. Yesterday was the magical day, and we are both relieved that our planning is done and we don't have to keep secrets anymore!

So here is the run down of the evening.

3:30... Jen gets into the car and just leaves. That was weird feeling.... just walking out the door and leaving. I get half way down to Dallas (Oregon) and call Leo to go get a note sitting in the office... the adventure begins...

4:50 Leo arrives at the church for his first clue, where he rondevou's with Alan (Kelly's husband)

5:00 Leo and Alan arrive at Kelly's sisters house (Sandy) where they find cowboy outfits and hats. They get a picture and a note. More pictures will come later as they were on Alan's camera.

5:20 they arrive at the Quiring Farm (some people at church) and have to walk a half mile down the railroad track to an eerie stop sign in the middle of a field. Next to the sign is a white bucket with a note. In the meantime they fish for a bucket in a pond NEXT to the railroad track (thinking this is the bucket they are searching for.... Leo is balancing himself on a stick... and falls in... thankfully it was just his shoe that got all muddy!) They hike back along the tracks to the car.

5:40 They arrive at the Johnson Farm (where originally we were going to have them milk goats... but they goats don't have kids until March.... so instead......) where they rally up pregnant goats and give them their feed, feed the horses, feed the cats (lots of them), and their viscious dog.... well maybe not viscious.... just "axiously alert". They find their next note amongst the saddle blankets in the barn.

6 ish They arrive at the "Hanging tree" in Dallas. (Dallas used to be the head quarters for the KKK. Their mascot was the dragon, which is still the high school mascot ~sad!~ There used to be a tree in the center of the town square where now the court and police department are... ironic! Pinned to one of the trees was our note.)

6 ish The boys meet us at Washington Steakhouse and Pub in Dallas Oregon. We have texan hamburgers and head off to the next destination together (all of us in cowboy hats).

7:00... we arive at a barn in the middle of Guthrie Park (the middle of nowhere) and square dance at a Ho-Down they do every other month. It was SOOOOO much fun! Lots of leg slapping, stinging hands from clapping, hurting cheeks from laughing, many mess ups, but a REALLY good time. We learned a lot of steps/dances including "Birds in the Cage", "Texas Star" and others that I never caught the name of. We discovered we are both really terrible at the Waltz... but who wants to do the slow ones anyway? We danced for three hours. We'll definately be going again!!!!!! I highly recommend it! We might even go do some Swing dancing classes with our friends too.... who knows!

I'll post more pictures later!
