Pretrip

The week before leaving for Washington DC, Leo's dad and Brigid, Brigid's son Bradley, and Leo's little brother Al came out for a "surprise" visit.n I say "surprise" because I'm a bad secret keeper and Leo's dad is a bad phone cover-upper. Previous to their coming I was really pushing to get things done in the yard and not allowing Leo to make plans during the time I knew they were coming. It was causing a little bit of frusteration between the two of us with conversations like "why can't we do this then".... "because we just can't". I let Leo know that "something" was planned during that time. The day before family arrival Leo called his dad (in the airport) and he heard "flight (some number) is boarding at the time, for Anchorage to Seattle" in the background. Needless to say, Leo figured it out. The meeting in the Original Pancake house was hilarious. Leo and I went in and here was this table that had three people with their menu's up over their head. If you could have put Leo, Brigid, and Bradley in those glasses with noses and mustaches attached it would have only slightly been funnier. We later picked up Al up in Portland, wandering the streets of Portland. We had a birthday party for the Leonard's with family, as we'd already spent some time with friends the weekend before having a babyshower. We spent a lot of time driving... and eating... and driving and eating... and driving and eating, and enjoyed their company tremendously! We were sad to send everybody home. Sadly we didn't get any pictures on our camera, but everybody else took lots of pictures. Hopefully we can get some from everybody else.
