Name that plant!

I'd like to pose a botany question out there to all those who have a clue as to what they are doing when they sit in the dirt and conduct something we call gardening.  I have these mysterious plants that LOOK like they are something other than a weed.  They don't prick you... or blow little seedlings around the yard, have deep roots, and they are green.  It's because of this that I haven't plucked them from my flower garden.  But, they've been getting taller and taller... and nothing seems to be happening.  I just noticed the other day there is SOMETHING that kinda' looks like a bud at the end of some of the stalks, and I'm hoping somebody out there can tell me that something beautiful is going to emerge from these monsters and that I've not been nurturing huge weeds in my garden.

Well it's not a peonie like I thought it might be. At least it's not like the one I have, so it can't be from the seeds I gave you. It must be a waitnsee plant.
