Day Two

The following morning we decided to head over to Old Sacramento which was a lot of fun. These are the original first buildings that made up Sacramento. I guess I have a picture of me when I was two standing in front of this same train. Who would have thought I would be back at almost thirty for the first time. Leo really enjoyed the history and we both enjoyed wandering up and down the various streets and poking in and out of the different shops. So fun.

Then we headed out to were Mather Air Force Base used to be. I was born there and have only a few memories of some of the inside of our housing. I had kind of hoped to have some amazing flash back of memory by seeing something I might recognize. I thought maybe the water tower held something, but I think my dad used to have a shirt that had the same symbols on it... so maybe that's what I remember. I was also able to hunt down the VA hospital which is where I was born (I think). It was neat to see it.

The water tower was in the housing area of the base and just a couple of blocks away from our house. So you were close anyway.

Also the hospital looks like it has had a face lift and maybe some expansion but is probably the same building when you were born.

Crazy. The watertower was the only thing that seemed familiar. I'm actually zoomed in on it and we are parked in a housing district that is there now. There is no way the houses there were the base housing then though. I guess they knocked the houses over years ago.
