This weekends events

Leo eating the side garnish to the eel we served the kids for the Chinese culture night.

We had some of the middle school kids over for a Chinese culture night. Leo just got done with Asian history at school. He called Brigid and got the lo-down on a lot of the customs and culture and we taught a few to the kids. We served them egg-drop soup with bamboo shoots, rice, eel, and lychee ice cream. Good times. We then watched Kung Fu Panda.
(All the kids ate everything. Eel tastes like Tuna if you are wondering.)

MVCA has had an awesome opportunity. An anonomous donor has pledged to match up to $20,000. The school has been working hard to try to raise $20,000 by June 1st (one month). If they earn and recieve the full $40,000 it will get them out of debt. You see the school started a little different than most Christian schools. It began with a vision instead of a check. It has held on to the grace and timing of God. The people who work there are completely dependent on Gods next move. This donor was out of the blue, and definitely a God sent. That debt to be paid off (a good portion) is the teachers pay. (They have all been working on reduced pay all year long.) So..... we've been fund raising like no other. A week ago we sent out flyers for recycled product pick up and this weekend Leo and I jumped in the car and drove up and down the neighborhoods collecting recyclable materials. We got a whole vehicle full. Praise the Lord. We sorted it out (yuck) and send it off to another family who was going to recycle it. Every penny counts!

Our neighbor came over with a power washer and we put it to work by stripping our front and back decks. What a difference! We also cleaned the inside of the BBQ, the gutters, and anything else we could think of that could use a good spray down! Our neighbor is such a blessing to us! Thanks Art and Sharon!

It's been beautiful outside so we've been trying to seize the moment. We hung the special frames we made, laid down weed paper, put down bark dust, bought some plants and planted.... (sigh)... man are we tired!
