Figures of Faith

Kids making the "figures of faith"

It's getting darker and we are still spraying them blue...... five more to go!

Just one of the things we have been up to. During one of our brainstorming conversations for the school and the auction and the kids we conjured up this neat project. It's called "figures of faith". I got together with the middle school and high school kids and we created these out of packing tape. (very fun), then we set up some service projects around town. Students venture to these service projects and leave behind a "figure of faith" which is posing the service they did. It's a statement we're trying to make that a "figure of faith" has got to be somebody who doesn't just hide away in a church, but an active member of the community.... reaching out and serving as Christ did. We've contacted the newspapers, along with a little blurb about the auction in November (HUGE FUNDRAISER, Leo's in charge and we are hoping to make at least $9,000.00.... then maybe the teachers can be paid full pay instead of 80%!) We will then be gathering up the figures, slitting them open and stuffing them with random money amounts to auction off at the auction as a general fund for student growth and possibly scholarships. If you see these blue MVCA figures around town.... that's what's going on.
