An artsy fartsy birthday...

Well,it's been a while since the last blog and life has been super duper crazy since school began. September 5th Leo threw a "surprise" birthday party for me. Actually it wasn't totally a surprise to me... but for the sake of my dear friend who unknowingly revealed...I don't like being surprised when it comes to my house being out of order anyway. It would have been more stressful to me knowing everything wasn't just so when friends came over. Call me obsessive, buy I'm just that way. It was a wonderful night (though we missed out on a few friends), and I didn't know the theme of the party until our friends Allan and Kelly came over (first to arrive) with a paper airplane and hand drawn stick elephant.... the theme was artsy fartsy. Leo was going to hang woopie cushions from the ceiling, but couldn't find them in time. (I heard later that one can locate these humorous gadgets from the dollar store). The events for the evening included food, fellowship, the playing of CLUE (an actually really fun game with lots of people-who would have thought), creating hair styles on hairy willy (artistically of course), and Leo tried to get us to color on these four foot Disney Princesses coloring book. I'm sure if it had been just my friend Billie and I we would have been content with coloring... but with a group it would have been awkward. I received many "useful" gifts, like chenille sticks (pipe cleaners), elmers glue, pompoms, a card that moo's, and googley eyes. (You never know when you're gunna need a set of those. Maybe I should put them in my purse for that opportune moment of need!) Nothing like feeling like a kid again on your 27th birthday. Thanks Leo & all my friends.

Advantages to being 27:

I finally feel like I can tell my students how old I am and not feel like I'm going to end up being the same age as their older brother or sister.

I'm in my late twenties.... Does this make me an adult? (It feels more like it this year.)

..... hmmm....

yep, that' about it. It's strange to say I'm that old. We'll see what the Lord has in store for this next year. May I glorify Him in everything I am capable of doing.
