Jars of Clay

You are the Potter, I am the Clay.

Friday we went to the Jars of Clay concert to kick of celebrating Leo's 27th birthday. It was a free concert put on by the United Methodists. They asked for canned food, so we parked a ways off and trekked our way to the Salem Fairgrounds with our cans in hand. We arrived at this long line, with all these people with LARGE tattoos, wearing ripped muscle man shirts (event the woman), smoking and using foul language. Leo and I were a little confused because we didn't think Jars of Clay would gather such a large group of people like this. Come to find out it was the line for some gun thing at the armory. Ooops.

We found the correct one and had a good time watching the band. I've only heard their old songs (when I was in high school) so it was neat to hear what they had now. It was a big crowd with a wide variety of people. Leo and I found it most entertaining to watch a group of OLD people in the back of the big crowd at the stage dancing. I got three on video, but am only blogging two, the last was of an older gentleman who must have ran five miles in his running man/jump jacks dance he did.. The lady in the first clip must have been in her late seventies. She was twirling, and jumping, bopping along. At one point I witnessed her head banging (or a slower version of it). She was really grooving out to the music. It made for some great laughs... but then again, out of respect. It's awesome that she was able to do this stuff, rather than sitting at home allowing her brain to rot out of her head watching the tube. When we were journeying back to the car we noticed a retirement home bus full of people leaving from the concert. It was just strange to see these people leaving an "alternative rock, pop, and folk" (as described by the Statesmen Journal) concert. The second is a lady probably in her sixties. (She's wearing the red shirt) Not so old, but definately getting jiggy with it. Oh, and on the side of the lady in red you can see the running/jumping jack man. Hope it makes for some good laughs for you too.

I think the thing at the armory was actual a cage fight. I was also at the Jars of Clay concert and was confused by the armory event.
